Project Management Certificate Series

Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association is now offering a new program for members and non-members. Learn the fundamentals of project management, the concepts and hands on applications to handle a project from beginning to end. 

The certificate will consist of four core courses and three electives. The core courses involve the fundamentals of project management, strategic thinking, a hands on project and a written test. This will make employees more aware of the involvement of each project they take on. Each project will involve leadership, teamwork, planning, evaluating and control. 

To complete the Project Management Certificate, you must complete the following course:

  • Fundamentals of Project Management Level I
  • Fundamentals of Project Management Level II
  • Strategic Thinking for Operations Proces
  • Project Management – Hands on and Written Test

Electives (Choose Three, these elective can be taken at any time)

  • Time Management
  • Interpersonal Communications
  • Principles of Finance for Non-Financial Managers
  • Managing Stress
  • Managing the Difficult Employee
  • Adventures in Attitude
  • Problem Analysis and Decision Making

After the completion of the required courses, you will receive a certificate from the Manufacturers Association of Mid-Eastern Pennsylvania. All recipients will be honored at a Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association dinner where they will receive recognition as one of the first to complete this newly offered program through Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association.

Fundamentals of Project Management Level I

The Project Management fundamentals program is a hands-on skill-building workshop that focuses on a team approach to project management. Participants will practice skills and then apply them to an actual project that they are currently assigned to work on. This comprehensive course is designed to develop and strengthen the core knowledge of anyone who has taken on the task of project management. This class focuses on basic principles of project management to give an understanding of the fundamentals of project management. Gain knowledge and techniques to manage a project through each phase and monitor progress of the project from beginning to end.

Fundamentals of Project Management Level II

Develop the necessary skills to obtain maximum performance from every member of your team. Learn the value of teamwork during the process of the entire project and how to properly plan for obstacles along the way. This course will cover the way a person can control and evaluate the progress of project management.

Program Content:

  • Leadership and teamwork
  • Project planning
  • Project evaluation
  • Project controlling

Strategic Thinking for Operations Process (S.T.O.P)

Participants will learn how to plan, develop and implement dynamic business and project team strategies with the Strategic Thinking Process. The program is designed to help team members develop business cases for proposed projects that are linked to their company’s strategic plans. This program is a 1-day workshop that teaches the participants the methodology and allows them to practice that methodology

Program Content:

  • Foundation of strategic thinking
  • Situation analysis
  • Establishing goals
  • Developing strategies
  • Developing action plans
  • Taking action
  • Gauging impact

Project Management - Hands On and Written Test

This is the course that gives you the ability to get some hands-on experience with project management. Take the basics of Fundamentals I and II and apply it to an actual project. This will give you the opportunity to analyze what you have learned and apply it to a situation you may be having within your company. At the end of this class you will be given a written test to see if you have an understanding of the courses that were presented to you.
