Preparing for Labor Contract Negotiations for New Negotiating Team Members

This program will equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to assist in negotiating a labor contract from beginning to end. Participants receive practical counsel from experienced professionals as well as the fundamental information and procedures necessary to negotiate in a tight labor market. With higher expectations from employees to share in the results of a strong economy and a rising assertiveness from labor unions, thorough preparation for your negotiations is ess ential.

Who Should Attend: Members of the negotiating team who have limited or no experience in the collective bargaining process. In addition, this workshop can serve as a valuable refresher in the basics of negotiations strategy and tactics.

  • How the collective bargaining process works and related labor law
  • Internal and external influences to be considered when bargaining
  • Establishing company bargaining strategies and post-contract responses
  • How to develop and price the company proposal and agreement
  • Negotiations protocol
