Managing the Difficult Employee

Are you frustrated by a “difficult employee” who is always late, often absent, complains, consistently mishandles assignments, is unmotivated, won’t change, intimidates others, or is insubordinate? This employee may cause friction and hurt productivity more than all other employees combined. This 3-hour program will help you deal directly with difficult employees and put an end to their unproductive and disruptive behavior. You will learn how to deal with difficult employees, give feedback, counsel and, as a last resort, apply disciplinary techniques. This course also counts as an elective toward the Supervisors Certificate.

Who Should Attend: Supervisors and managers whose role includes dealing with difficult employees.

Program Content:

  • How to change attitudes and work with difficult people
  • When and how to use discipline
  • Case studies and role-playing
  • The sources of conflict in the workplace
  • Resolving conflict with others
  • Dealing with employee defense mechanisms
