Hazardous Materials Technician Level 24-Hours

This program is designed for personnel who are responsible for recognizing, identifying and containing actual or threatened releases of hazardous substances, materials and wastes.  The course material is activity oriented and combines lectures, realistic exercises, demonstrations and simulations complemented by a comprehensive course manual.  A written examination must be completed at the end of the program.

Who Should Attend: This training is required by any employee who would respond defensively to a chemical emergency by attempting to dam, dike, or otherwise contain a leak.  The employee actions included are plugging, patching, or even up righting a spilling container.

Program Content:

    Overview of DOT, HAZCOM & HAZWOPER regulations
    Chemical and physical properties of hazardous substances
    Review to recognize labels, placards and markings
    Emergency response plans and emergency response guidebook
   
Use of personal protective equipment
   
Hazard and risk assessment
   
Emergency response
