COBRA Administration

Group health care under the Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act (COBRA) of 1985 applies to every employer with an employee heath plan – with the exception of church plans and employers with fewer than 20 employees. In this workshop, participants learn what is required to administer COBRA programs and how to ensure compliance. Federal and State mandates are explained in plain English, so that participants can easily understand requirements and compliance issues.

Who should attend: Managers and/or human resource professionals who administer COBRA programs, managers and supervisors who need to be aware of COBRA requirements, Human resource professionals who work with benefits programs

Program Content:

  • Notification requirements for COBRA – eligible and covered employees
  • Rights and responsibilities of COBRA – covered persons, from election to conversion rights
  • Timely payment rules for premiums
  • Time-clock rules associated with COBRA
